Global Mobility and related international tax issues have been highlighted by the Covid pandemic over the last year. Staff have been identified that have either returned to home countries during the year, or who were already living outside the UK and have also been working outside the UK.
The temporary move to online delivery of courses also raises potential international tax issues.
The purpose of this post is to work through the implications of these staff member actions in terms of personal taxation, social security, employer obligations to make deductions from salary and corporate presence in regard to global mobility. In addition, to consider digital services taxes, VAT or equivalent and any corporate presence in relation to online delivery, as well as any other global tax issues which may arise.
